One of my favorite scopes is the Celestron GPS-11, I recently mounted my scope on a Meade Super Wedge and Giant Field Tripod. One of the problems I had was the fact that the base of the GPS-11 is wider then the wedge. So I decided to make a set of one inch spacers that would allow the base to sit just above the rails and it works great!

I machined the spacers out of solid 1-1/2 aluminum bar, I then drilled the center to 9/16 so as I could use the stock Alt Az bolts that come with the scope.

On the wedge I drilled two new holes along the beam to match the GPS-11 bolt pattern and then the top slot was elongated.

Here is the results of the fabrications, with one inch spacers the latitude can go down to 34 degrees.

I was able to use the stock Alt AZ Stainless Steel Bolts that came with the scope to mount to the wedge

This arrangement is just one of many, but I have to tell you it is as solid as a rock. dampening time is about 2 sec. much better than the stock arrangement.
